Total Security is a malicious piece of software that installs itself on your computer and then proceeds to bug you with many fake warnings and alerts claiming to have found “virus infections” on your PC. The software continues to post lots of these warnings to you in the hope that you will just get so annoyed that you will buy the program. The only way to stop this is to either buy the program or to remove it. Here’s how…
Total Security is what’s known as a “fake antivirus” tool and just pretends to find a selection of issues on your computer. It’s just designed to scan through your PC and tell you that there are a series of errors that need fixing, prompting you to buy the software to do that. Luckily, removing this tool is actually very simple.
You first need to stop its processes (the EXE files that are making it run) by pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL and then loading up the task manager. You then need to click on “Processes” and then find the following programs to stop functioning: tsc.exe, Sc2C21UvvM.exe, [RANDOM NUMBER].exe. Removing these will stop the alerts as it will prevent the program from actually loading.
After you’ve stopped it from running, you then need to head to the Program Files that Total Security has, and remove them from your PC. These files are what makes the program able to run and by removing them, you’ll stop it from loading in the future. To do this, you need to click on “My Computer” then browse to C:/Program Files/TSC, select that entire folder and then press SHIFT + DELETE to remove it permanently from your computer.
When you’ve done that, it’s then highly recommended that you clean out the registry to get rid of any more references to Total Security from your PC. This is a vital step that many people don’t do, simply because they don’t know about it. The registry is a big database which stores the settings and options for your system, and Total Security put files in there to help it load up. You need to use a registry cleaner such as “RegAce” to remove these files…. otherwise it could be the case that TS will find a way to come back on your PC!
