Why LED Downlights?
When people refer to LED’s the first thing that normally springs to mind is those small lights that come in a huge range of colours used to indicate settings on devices. These days you get LED TV’s and monitors as well. LED technologies are rapidly improving and now days you can get the LED bulb and downlight. An led downlight manufacturer is capable of producing the same amount of illumination that a normal 50W halogen light would produce for only 10W. That means 5 times less energy used, 5 times more money saved on lighting bills and 5 times less harm down to the environment.
The lights in our hoses are predominantly halogen bulbs and majority of them last for only 2500 hours before dying. A LED light is so durable it can last for at least 25,000 hours with many being capable of lasting for 50,000 hours.
They are also designed with safety in mind running significantly cooler than halogens, containing no toxic materials (like incandescent bulbs contain mercury) and have very little glass that can shatter and spread into small particles.
From the above you can pretty much gather there is absolutely no reason to not switch to LED Lights.
What often stops people from using LED downlights?
The main problem is that LED downlights are currently significantly more expensive initially than regular downlights or halogens. Most LED downlights start around $40 per unit where are incandescent bulbs can be just 2 at your local electrician.
Also most people are unsure how to go about buying and installing led downlight supplier for the homes as generally making changes are often scary and people would rather stick with what they are comfortable with and what they know.
Why you should still buy LED’s?
While incandescent lights are other alternatives may be cheaper and LED’s are the most expensive initially, remember that long term it will pay off and save you money. You are looking at around 4-5 years before the lights pay themselves back and start saving you money but still from that point on you will be saving money for years. Also consider because of the long lifespan of LED lights, you will almost never have to worry about replacing them or getting a professional to do it so you can possibly save yourself some money there as well.
Also most LED lights are retrofit and designed to work with your existing electrical systems and even older ones. It is just a matter of making a simple replacement or a few extra auditions that can be done by yourself or by a professional.
It is highly recommended you buy LED downlights online as it is much cheaper plus these websites often offer guides on how to install them easily.
